Proven Performance

In 1943, Chicago fabricator Bob Walker set out to meet the needs of dairy farmers and processors in a time of restrictions on transportation, materials and skilled labor. His solution was to relocate his fabrication business to Wisconsin, the national center of dairy production. Here his business grew with the industry, fueled by a passion to serve the nation’s dairymen with excellence; to recruit and develop the best design and production specialists in the industry; and to develop innovation in stainless steel fabrication.

Walker Welding and Machine worked to develop the first bulk milk truck in the world and fulfilled that dream in 1953. Demand for the modern bulk tank grew rapidly, requiring expansion into a second facility devoted exclusively to the production of milk storage tanks. In 1959, Walker again led the industry with the introduction of the first fiberglass-jacketed milk storage tank. One year later, the first elliptical fiberglass-jacketed bulk pickup tank was introduced.

Today, Walker brand tank trailers are manufactured by Wabash National Corporation, a diversified industrial manufacturer and North America’s leading producer of semi-trailers. As the leading innovator in transportation equipment, Wabash National brings extensive resources to Walker, along with a shared commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and best-in-class quality.
